How Invisible Hearing Aids work and what to expect

Hearing loss is a common problem that affects millions of people. Hearing aids are one of the most effective ways to manage hearing loss. However we find that some people are hesitant to use them because they are visible and can affect self-esteem.

This is where Invisible Hearing aids come in. Invisible Hearing Aids are a great option for people who want to improve their hearing without the visible appearance of traditional hearing aids.

What are Invisible Hearing Aids?

Invisible Hearing Aids are small devices that are designed to fit inside the ear canal. They are custom-made to fit each person’s individual ear and are made from materials that are both comfortable and discreet.

Benefits of Invisible Hearing Aids

There are several benefits to using Invisible Hearing Aids, including:

  • Improved self-esteem and confidence
  • Enhance quality of life
  • Improved hearing ability in social situations
  • Improved ability to understand speech
  • Better sound quality
  • Improved comfort

Types of Invisible Hearing Aids

There are two main types of invisible hearing aids, both of which we offer at our hearing centres in Stratford-upon-Avon and Worcester.

Invisible-in-the-canal (IIC) are custom made hearing aids that fit deep inside the ear canal, making them virtually invisible. A person’s ear canal shape and size will have a bearing on how deep these devices can fit into the ear canal.

The Phonak Lyric has a unique placement in the ear canal, it is inserted by a highly skilled audiologist using a microscope and sits 4mm from the ear drum making it the first 100%, completely invisible hearing aid.

You can wear this hearing aid for upto 2 months at a time and for all your daily activities, including showering and sleeping. It allows you to live life without constraints, with no battery changes needed.

How do Invisible hearing aids work?

Invisible hearing aids use advanced technology to amplify sound and improve hearing. They work by using microphones to pick up sounds, which are then processed by a digital chip.

The positioning of them is also believed to be optimal for sound quality, as it allows the outer ear and ear canal to do its job and funnel sound naturally towards the eardrum.

How to know if you need hearing aids

There is no ‘one size fits all’ answer to hearing loss. Your hearing test results are crucial to making a diagnosis and treating any kind of hearing loss. In our state of the art hearing centre’s in Stratford upon Avon and Worcester your hearing will be diagnostically assessed using the most advanced audiology equipment available. Your hearing aids will then be bespokely made to your individual ear canal and customised to your hearing loss where we will ensure they will deliver the help you need in the situations you need it.

How much do invisible hearing aids cost

We understand that private hearing care can be considered expensive, but the on-going service required to keep your ears maintained, devices serviced and programmed efficiently can’t always be appreciated until it is required.

Our bespoke patient care plans are tailored to your needs and include the most suitable technology for you. They deliver you everything you need to benefit from your hearing aids, that would likely cost up to £510 per year if you purchased hearing aids from other providers and paid separately for our services.

Our plans are priced from £1,500 for a single ear as part of our Bronze package which offers:

1 custom made invisible in the canal digital hearing aid

  • Premium care plan service
  • Manufacturer warranty cover
  • Lifetime clean and check
  • Ear wax removal

Who can benefit from invisible hearing aids

If you are used to an active lifestyle, invisible hearing aids offer a secure fit. They have no external wires or tubes and are extremely comfortable to wear.

They also allow you to use your devices, such as telephone or headphones, with little to no feedback. Some devices also have Bluetooth which means you can stream your audio directly to your hearing aids.

However, they are not suitable for everyone. While your hearing loss needs to be taken into account, the major stumbling block to suitability is normally the size and shape of your ear canal. Whether it’s too small or too narrow, it means you won’t be suitable for these devices, which is something we can check for.

Invisible hearing aids are a great option for people who want to improve their hearing without the visible appearance of traditional hearing aids.
